Children and Worship
There is good evidence that children learn about worship from parents who make a commitment to regularly attend worship services. The nursery and Little Lambs are open during the 8:45 am worship service and the Christian Education hour (10:00 am to 10:45 am). It is staffed with trained workers and supported with volunteers.
Summer Sunday Schedule for Children:
Nurseries are located on the second floor of Drennen House.
- Infant and Toddler Nurseries (for infants and children through age 2): Nurseries open at 9:35 am and close after the 10:00 am service.
- Infants (birth to walking): Room 201
- Toddlers (walking well - 2 yrs.): Room 202.
- Little Lambs (age 2 by September 1, 2011): Room 204. Little Lambs opens at 9:45 am and closes after the 10:00 am service.
- Combined Children’s Chapel for 3K through 3rd grade: Children will begin worship in the church with their families and follow the Crucifer out to the Chapel following the Gospel. The children will design and conduct a brief prayer service with the help of the adults in attendance and will return to their families at the Peace.
Nurseries: Nurseries are available from 8:30 am through the 11:00 am worship service for infants and children through age 2.
Infants (birth to walking): Room 201.
Toddlers (walking well - 2 yrs. old): Room 202.
The church nursery is a child’s introduction to the church and God’s family. St. Mary’s nursery is a place where children feel God’s comfort through the ministry of a caring and capable staff.
Little Lambs (age 2 by September 1, 2012):
Room 204
Little Lambs opens at 8:30 am and closes at the end of the Christian Education hour (10:45 am.) Staffed by parent volunteers, two-year olds and young threes are provided with enriching experiences that foster an awareness of God’s love.
Kids’ Word (formerly Children’s Chapel I) (age 3 – Kindergarten):
Room 210
8:45 am worship service only. Doors open at 8:35 am. Children will be returned to their families at the Peace during the 8:45 worship service.
Children will have structured play time followed by a simple scripture reading and music. The children will then be led back to church for the Holy Eucharist. All parents with children this age are asked to participate in Kids’ Word on a rotating basis.
Children’s Chapel (grades 1-3):
