Katie Dewees Bio

Katie Dewees, Nursery Director

 

Katie Dewees was born and raised in Columbia, Tennessee.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from the University of Mississippi.  She moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1992 and moved her letter to St. Mary’s.  She has directed a church preschool program, been a teacher in an after school program, and has worked as a trainer of early care and education caregivers.  An advocate for children and families, Katie has served on the board of Preschool Partners and is currently on the board of Childcare Resources.  She has volunteered to work in the GED nursery, has taught Sunday school for many years, and is a trained catechist, currently working toward level III certification.  Katie is married to Guy and they have three children, Ella Kate, Carter, and Sarah.
