Stratt Byars Bio

Stratt Byars, Youth Minister

Stratt is a native of Russellville, Alabama, where he grew up attending Trinity Episcopal Church of Florence and First Baptist Church, Russellville.  His mother had him attending Trinity “since before he was born,” and he attended First Baptist Church with his father and grandmother as he sculpted his own personal faith and relationship with Christ.  As a youth in the Diocese of Alabama, Stratt was the Co-Chair of the Youth Department, involved with Happening, and a passionate “camper” at Camp McDowell.  Stratt has also served as a staff member of Sawyerville Day Camp and Special Session at Camp McDowell.  

Since graduating from Russellville High School in 2009, Stratt spent several semesters studying at the University of Alabama.  He plans to return to school part time in the future at the University of Alabama-Birmingham to obtain a degree in Psychology.  Stratt also served the summers of 2010 and 2011 working as a member of the Summer Staff at Camp McDowell.  He was hired in 2011 to be the Head Counselor at Camp McDowell.  St. Mary’s is his first job in Parish Youth Ministry, and he could not be happier to call St. Mary’s his home.
