Sunday, May 19:  Day of Pentecost
10:00 am: Holy Eucharist Rite II
Pentecost is a major day feast day for the church.  In some ways it is known as a birthday and in other ways it is understood as a commemoration of the giving of the Holy Spirit.  We will celebrate this day in a number of ways:
  • Wear red!  This color represents the Holy Spirit.
  • Read the Gospel in many languages.  As recounted in the book of Acts, the Apostles were “filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.”  Thus it has become the custom to read the Gospel in other languages to mark the occasion when each, in his or her own language, hears the Gospel proclaimed.  If you can read and/or speak a foreign language, please volunteer to be one of our many readers!  Contact Cissy Henderson in the Parish Office for more details (933-1140).
  • Enjoy a Parish Picnic in the Garden immediately following the 10:00 service.  Details here.
