Rector
Huey has served as Rector of St. Mary’s since 2002. Huey grew up in the Birmingham area and was a candidate for Holy Orders from the Diocese of Alabama. He attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia and was ordained in 1991. Since his ordination he has served parishes in Anniston, Memphis and Macon. He is married to Irene Thames of Montgomery and they have two daughters, Emily and Lucy.
Assistant to the Rector for Education
Jeremy L. Carlson is a priest in the Diocese of Alabama and serves as an Assistant to the Rector at St. Mary’s-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church in Birmingham. At St. Mary’s, Jeremy’s responsibilities primarily lie in the areas of education and family ministries. Jeremy graduated from the School of Theology at Sewanee with an M. Div. in 2018. Jeremy holds degrees from the University of Alabama (B.A. 1995, J.D. 2004) and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (M.A. Ed. 1997). Before seminary, Jeremy worked as a lawyer and teacher. Jeremy and his wife, Laura, have two remarkably bright and gifted daughters.
